The Lion And The Woodcutter

"The Lion and The Woodcutter" writer unknown and source by application English Stories.

This story tells about the friendship between a woodcutter and a lion. how can be? this is the story.

In a forest there lived a lion and his two friends, namely a jackal and a crow. Near of the forest there is a village lived by woodcutters. every day he went to the forest to cut down trees. One day he heard a strange sound and after that the Lion appeared and roared. but he doesn't afraid, the woodcutter even said he was happy to meet the lion. The woodcutter is a smart man, he made an offer to share food to the Lion, as long as the lion doesn't eat him. At first the lion didn't agree because he was a meat eater, but the woodcutter persuaded him until finally the lion agreed. The next day the woodcutter kept his promise to share the food and it turned out that the lion liked the food and they became friends as long as the lion didn't tell the other animals about their friendship.

However, because the lion wasn't hunting anymore, the jackal and the crow didn't get any food and that made them suspicious. One day while the lion was away, a jackal and a crow followed from behind and watched what the lion was doing from a safe distance. And finally a jackal and a crow saw the lion eating with the woodcutter. And the next day a jackal and a crow urged the lion to share food with them too, after persuading finally the lion wanted to invite a jackal and a crow to go see the woodcutter. The woodcutter who was in the tree saw in surprise that the lion was carrying another animal. Finally, when the lion arrived, the woodcutter didn't want to share his food and the lion was no longer his friend. The Lion didn't want to stop being friends with the Woodcutter, but the Woodcutter said that if the Lion could break his promise then one day the Lion could kill him.

Same like my first short story that this story is short and easy to understand, but unfortunately the depiction of the animal's character is less prominent so it is difficult for us to guess whether the lion is really good or not. while the depiction of the characters a jackal and a crow is good and they look like lazy animals. And this story have the incomplete ending is like a cliffhanger. But apart from that everything is good, especially the author describe the character of the woodcutter who is really smart. And the moral value that we get from this story is never break a promise no matter what happens. We can see that the woodcutter doesn't trust the lion anymore even though the lion has apologized.

Okay guys, that all from me, thank you for the nice attention. see you next chapter, bye-bye😉✋
